Cam means crooked or bent, and ín adds the little ending. Saint Caimín founded the monastery on Inis Cealtra, also called Holy Island, in Lough Derg, Co. Clare. He died in 654, and the island still has impressive monastic ruins. So this little name has a long history behind it!
