Fraoch is the Irish word for heather, but it is also the name of a hero in Irish mythology. His story is told in Táin Bó Fraích, The Cattle Raid of Fraoch, where he is linked with Findabair, the daughter of Queen Medb and King Ailill. So this little nature name has a whole Irish tale behind it.
